Guo Yubin
Guo Yubin (1892-1981), whose literary name is Canwen, was from Xiangcheng in Henan province. He was a biology educator. Mr. Guo went to the US for further study in 1917 and graduated from Grinnell College. In 1923, he came back to China and taught as a professor in Beijing Normal University and then Dongwu University. In 1931, he was a professor of Peking Normal University and a committee member of the school’s teaching committee. From 1935 to 1950, Yubin Guo served as director of the department of biology. When he held this post, he employed famous scholars, introduced equipment, and selected young teachers to learn in other countries, creating a foundation for the further development of the department of biology.
