Liu Huitu
Born in 1933, at Zhenjiang county, Jiangsu province, Ms. Liu graduated with a degree in biochemistry from the department of chemistry at Beijing Normal University in 1958. She worked as a researcher and doctoral supervisor in the department of biology at Beijing Normal University, director of the academic committee of the key laboratory of cell proliferation and bio-manipulation of the Ministry of Education. She was a member of the professional committee of cancer cell biology for the Chinese Society for Cell Biology, and editor of “Cell Biology.” She worked in the field of cell biology and studied the manipulation of cell proliferation for many years. She mainly studied on the messenger system in cells and molecular horizontal systems (especially protein kinase C and its subtype, calmodulin, nucleolus adenylic acid), and the function and mechanism of cancer genes in the manipulation of cell proliferation. She achieved meaningful and innovative results in studies on the induction of cell carcinogenesis by non-cancer genetic products and molecular reason, which had great theoretical and practical meaning for uncovering the reason of carcinogenesis and clinical cure of tumors, and provided new clues for study of the mechanism of cell carcinogenesis. She has undertaken some major projects supported by the National Natural Science Foundation (she was the person in charge of the sub-project) and key brainstorming projects of the National Natural Science Foundation, “the Seventh Five-Year Plan” and the “Eighth Five-Year Plan”(Ministry of Health). She was one of the main writers of the “Studies on the Metabolizing and Cytokine tics of Several Domestic Cancer Therapy Drugs” which was awarded the first prize for scientific and technological progress by the State Education Committee in 1986, of the “The Studies on the Function of Nucleolus Adenylic Acid in the Path of Tumor Messenger Cells and the Manipulation of Cancer Gene” and “Studies on the Manipulation Mechanism of the Molecular Sidewise Movement in Epicyte in the Concretization and Reversion of Cells with FRAP Technique ” which achieved the third and second prize of the Beijing Scientific and Technological Progress Award respectively in 1991, and the third prize of the Scientific and Technological Progress of the Ministry of Health Award. As one of the editors-in-chief of “Cell Biology” (Beijing Normal University Publishing Group, 1990), the book achieved the first prize of State Education Commission Progress Excellent Textbook Award in 1995. She had published over 70 papers at home and abroad. She also enjoyed the special government allowance from the State Council.
